We visited Chichen Itza on Monday which is one of the seven new wonders of the world. The main temple was really impressive and built with incredible precision. If you clap your hands in a certain way next to the main steps, the echo sounds like the name of the Mayan God for whom the temple was built (Kulkulkan). The site also houses the biggest Mayan ball court of the Yucatan, this was where they played their sport, and only those men born into the ´ball player´ caste were allowed to play. It was played as ´sudden death´i.e. first goal wins, and the captain of the winning team was sacrificed!

There were other really impressive temples and sites to see here and it was a very interesting place to visit, as well as being probably the most famous of the Mayan sites.

Hi Aislinn, Just wanted to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Prezzy to follow when you get back. Hope you're both still having a great time. Nepal was great - quite tough, but we survived! Love, Aunty Di
