One night in Heaven????

Well it was two nights, and not really heaven either, but we arrived really late on Wednesday Morning, getting to the hostel about 0100 hours. As we checked into our six share, the guy told us about the dungeon- a 30 share dorm room in the basement-glad we weren't in there. After making our beds on the top bunks in the dark, we had a fairly restful night waking to people on lower bunks leaving. We quickly changed our beds and bagged lower bunks, before venturing out to the Petrie Terrace area nearby. It was quite nice, but the coffee shop we were after was shut, so we had lunch at a hotel (Oz for pub), and walked around the back streets full of old wooden houses, typical of old world Queensland. We then took a walk by the river to the botanical gardens, where we walked through a mangrove swamp on a boardwalk, and around a lilly filled lake where we saw bearded dragon in the water, and lots of Ibis out. We found ourselves in an Irish pub for dinner, before getting in early to the hostel (our flight was at 9 the next day, taxi was booked for 0700 hours).

We arrived at the airport about 0730 hours and, after seeing no flights to Cairns at 0900 hrs, the girl on the information desk helpfully informed us of our flight details. @!&% it. 'your flight isn't until 9 o clock this evening i'm afraid'. DOH!! We discussed staying in the airport twelve hours, and then promptly booked another flight at 1135 hrs. Goodbye Brisbane, I hate you. Oh. No i dont we have to come back here next week........love you Brissy, look after us next time.
