Resort Pool here we come
From FIJI Sun Sand and Mocktails :-) in Denarau Island, Fiji on Mar 16 '08
After a lovely relaxing night walking on the beach and then curling up in a soft inviting bed, Gab and I woke up as fresh as daisy's. We quickly dressed for breakfast and headed off to find this "All you can Eat" Buffet.
Well when staying at the Sheraton definitely get the buffet breakfast. I cant go on about the food but it was plentiful, fresh and filled the spot.
We decided we would visit a different resort pool each day we were at Denarau so first cab off the rank was the Sheraton Fiji Resort pool. (It was close and I was seriously bloated).
Gab and I parked our butts on a well used beach chair and soaked in some rays and drank a few mocktails and were basically just loving the fact we had nothing to do but swim, drink and watch seriously fat Europeans floating around the pool.
Our pool was very tired looking and the Sheraton is about to undergo a 22 million dollar facelift but we were not disappointed, after all there was at least another 20 resort pools to visit so why rush off and do it all on the first day..... right??? (big mistake,, will explain later)
That afternoon we dragged ourselves out from the pool and thought we would check out the area and go down to the Port Denarau Marina.
There is 2 "Bula Bus's" that are available free for guests to use. The first is the Brown Bula Bus that takes guests via the 3 Sheraton resorts all lined up next to each other. They come around every 10 mins or so. The second is the "Blue" Bula Bus that takes guests around the whole of Denarau Island. It comes past each 30 mins or so.
We jumped on the Blue Bula Bus and made our way down to the Marina. There is a small series of shops, some pratical (bakery, newsagency, supermarket) others not so (Jewellers, expensive boutiques) but this is the area where most of the day trips and transfers to Islands depart. We picked up some lovely grocery items such as brie cheese and crackers, wine & dips... All the makings of a fabulous midnight picnic on the beach.... Well being I was traveling with my daughter,,, maybe a 7.00 pm snack instead... :-)
That night we decided to head into Nadi town for dinner and check out a local restaurant (only took 1 night for me to start wanting to see the locals). The taxi driver recommended a Chinese restaurant. It was clean, great food but it was all over in 60 mins. It was a boring night, we are not quite sure why but it had started raining so we thought we would call it a early evening and we in bed by 9.00 (I did say we were there to rest :-) )
