Ciao and mopeds sum up Piran. There is money there and lots of Italians. Which stands to reason actually as from the coastal path you can see Trieste off into the distance. An expensive place with more restaurants than boats and this place has lots of boats. Our hostel was modest but nothing to shout about and the weather was good but the heavens did open up sporadically throughout our stay there.

A good bar was frequented and we met all sorts of people, one couple had a boat and offered us a ride in the regatta on one of the days and another couple had a plane. There was money in these parts of Slovenia.

"...An expensive place with more restaurants than boats and this place has lots of boats..."

Piran was a tad boring and as we were stranded there for 3 days the place quickly lost its novelty. There wasn't much to do and we were finally glad to leave the area and head for Ljubljana where it would inevitably be much livelier.
