After leaving Koh Phangnan I went for a few days to Koh Tao where I did some more diving and tried to take some photos - will have to see what they turn out like when I finish the film!!  Very strange taking photos under water though.

The next major experience was the night boat to Surat Thani on the way to Ko Phi Phi - you wouldn't believe it really.  The boat had three decks, the bottom two strewn with raffia mats and the top one with thin mattresses laid out next to each other, with a small pillow (5 to two mattresses) and a life jacket each.  There were fans and the windows were open and everyone slept fully clothed next to each other like sardines !!!!!!  Arrived in Surat Thani at 5am and got a taxi to the bus and then the bus to Krabi, another taxi and then a boat to Phi Phi, arriving at about mid day - so quite a long journey.

As Phi Phi is famous for diving and 'The Beach' beach we of course did both these things.  The diving was very good - but no turtles or sharks again!!! the beach was so crowded and you had to pay an entrance fee to stand on it that we just looked from a distance, the number of people on it spoilt the effect really.

At the restaurant we were soaked by a splurge gun as it was the festival of Sangskrat (New Year) and traditionally it is good luck to be soaked by someone - great fun especially for the children.

Next place we visited was Hat Tonsai, so back to Krabi by boat and bus and then boat to Hat Tonsai!!!  Rachel booked to do some rock climbing here and they were very good.  We also had a really plush room, just because we felt like it and a couple of restful days before making our way to the next destination.
