Fort Williams was built to help control the Highlands by the government.  The town eventually took the name of the fort.  We spent just a short time here and wandered about.  The Caledonian canal has several locks in Fort Williams.  The canal connects several lochs together providing an inland water way, much like the Inter-Coastal water way on the east coast of the United States.

There are several pubs and restaurants; however, we chose the Canalside Chip Shop, for Fish-n-Chips and Irn-Bru, and ate next to the Canal.

Picturesque town.
