So we went to London the other day, it was a big long day of walking. Our day started with the 20 minute walk to the bus stop, and then the bus into Slough, which take about another 20 minutes, we then had to work out how to get into London, we decided on the train. So for an all day tickets including London underground and buses it cost us about 10 pound each, not bad considering public transport is very expensive here. It was an express train so no stops and in 15 minutes we were in Paddington station. We walked out and hit the streets, and we were like ‘um derrr arrrrr where to now’, so out comes the guidebook, and we head to Buckingham Palace, but first we had to head to and walk through pretty much all of Hyde Park, which was a delight in itself. Hyde Park was a nice walk though we did probably go through the longest way possible. Once we hit the other side, we hit a road and a parade of guards and their horses were coming down the street, so we assume this was from the changing of the guard, which we unfortunately just missed. So our walk continues, and we finally find Buckingham Palace, and to be honest it’s not all that grandiose, but none the less we still took photos, and also some of the water fountain in front.

From there we were in search of the London Eye, something we had kept hearing about and had a vague idea but was interested to see what all the fuss was about. On our travels we came across the Big Ben, which was quite breath taking and by far, much more interesting than Buckingham Palace, John took many great photos. We then discovered to our left across the river Thames was the London eye, which looks a little like a Ferris wheel with glass capsules. John said it that it looked like a bike wheel, but you will see in pictures. After two massive lines and 15 pounds each we were in our very own glass capsule, with about a dozen other tourists. We then started the 30 minute loop. It was quite a view once up the top. However, hard to take good photos because of the glare of the glass. It is said that you can see for about a 25 km radius from the top.

Soon after this we had something to eat, walked a little bit and then decided to head home. Waterloo was the closest, so on our first tube we headed back to Paddington, we had a bit of trouble, nothing was signed very well but we had some help from an elderly couple and we got on the right train, yay! The trip home was slightly longer we had to take a slow train because we had off peak tickets, but in the end it doesn’t really matter.

We sold our campervan that night, it only took six days, and we have sold it for the same price we paid. So really only a little money lost on repairs and towing etc but really we had saved that by staying in cheaper accommodation. Now we are just organising the DVLA (vicroads) paperwork, which is a little nightmarish, but we will get there.

We both really just can’t wait to get moving again.

Well should end it here, but will be back online soon.

Love always, John and Erin xo
