Attending a wedding in Montego Bay
From Family Celebration in Jamaica in Montego Bay, Jamaica on Nov 06 '04
Destination weddings seem to be all the rage these days. Couples pick a destination and everyone usually stays at the same resort. For Summer and Phil's wedding, about 25 friends and family flew from all over the United States to be there. The whole week was like a party - the bar was always open and the weather was beautiful. For the first few days, we mostly hung out by the beach and pool. The cantina made whatever drinks we wanted (Rum punch was a favorite) and also served Jamaican Nachos (yummy).
On the day of the wedding, we all hung out on the beach and lounged on the trampoline that is in the water.
The wedding took place as the sun set, on a pretty lawn overlooking the beach. A reggae band played "Here comes the bride" on steel drums. A few minutes later, Summer and Phil were married.
Dinner took place back at the cantina. The dj played great songs and we danced on the deck by the beach. All of the groomsman and the groom jumped into the pool! Then the bridesmaids followed (me and my other cousin). I still haven't dry cleaned my dress.
The next day we were all pretty tired from all of the festivities.
I took the shuttle back to the airport by myself (I had to fly all the way back to california so I had an earlier flight).
Spending so much time with family in such a pretty location was wonderful (no fights!). We didn't get to see much of Jamaica though, that's my only regret.
