England finally received summer, so we decided to bask in it.  We took the train to Brighton - about an hour and twenty minutes from our place - and enjoyed the glorious sunshine on the southern coast.  It was a day well deserved by all Brits after the crap summer we've experienced, but we weren't quite prepared for how busy Brighton would be.

Not knowing it was Gay Pride Day, we initially were surprised by the extremely large proportion of transvestites and feather boas, but once we figured it out we decided to get swept up by the atmosphere.  The city is so lively, it would be extremely difficult to not get in the mood to party.

Next time we will definitely indulge!

Our first stop was the beach, where we baked ourselves for a few hours.  Patrick even experienced his first ever sunburn - now maybe I'll get some sympathy when it happens (so often!) to me.  We then decided to walk around town and see what all the fuss was about.  Really cool little city.  The Pier is so tacky its a lot of fun.  The town itself is so bohemian - it really was like being around San Francisco (another of our fav locations!).

Unfortunately we weren't able to stick around and see what the night life in Brighton is like, but I would guess it is pretty wild.  Nightclubs along the beach - no better setting than that.  Next time we will definitely indulge!
