En route to the Badlands - Day 4
From Road Trip - USA in Badlands National Park, United States on Aug 18 '07
A good nights sleep, hot shower and free breakfast gave us a great start to our day, and we were on the road by 10:30 with only 3 hours to the Badlands. We mapped out a tentative route including hiking, biking, horse back riding, scenic driving and other assorted tourist crap, including Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument and the Wall Drugstore.
En route to the Badlands we had some fantastic scenery, including this awesome field of sunflowers that just popped up as we were driving. Oh wow, there is another one! It’s about 15 acres from what we can tell, rows and rows of sun flowers. I love having a laptop in the car btw – I’ve been ripping books on CD to the laptop so we have something to listen to (we’re more than halfway thru The World According to Garp, btw) so I’ve got the laptop handy most of the time. Lucky for all our readers that you get lots of play by play’s :o)
