Well, we decided last night that if you cannot beat them, you need to join them. I barely slept the prior night due to the sounds of gunshot or firecrackers. We arrived at 10:30 p.m. with no idea of the location or neighborhood other than some abbreviated information from the Lonely Planet Guide and Trip Advisor. The loud sounds continued half the night with noisy people returning back to their room at all hours.
At the end of our first day, we decided to scoop out the beach at night and found a complete transformation of the daytime beach we spent time at. All of the beach side chairs and umbrellas were removed and tables were set up on the beach lit up will all types of fairy lights. Each venue had its assortment of meals and fresh seafood. Vendors walked the streets selling fireworks and some type of lanterns that they light and release to the sky. All very delightful. This place is growing on me each day and the kids are having a great time.

After buying a surf shirt to protect me from the sun, we returned to the beach for swimming. Sonja and Daniel got tatoos (see the pictures). Late afternoon we wandered north on the beach to the rocky area away from the white sand of Chaweng beach to swim, look at fish and collect shells. The kids ran into hermit crabs which they collected. We will need to find a way to get them through customs. I am not sure if checked bags or carry on luggage are the proper way to transport crabs. Do you suppose there is a penalty for smuggling crabs internationally? Figuring this out will keep Sonja and Daniel busy for several days.

Tonight we are joining the party on the beach for dinner and fireworks. I must run, the kids are starving!
