Last day or so in Hoi An wasnt very productive as the weather was not condusive to hardcore sightseeing. Did make it to My Son temples though and despite the persistant rain we saw some 1500 year old relics that you are free to walk around and even touch. Highlighted to me just how recent the settlement of Australia was considering the Cham people have been around since 400AD. The remainder of our time in Hoi An was spent chasing up clothes and shoes and eating our favourite local specialties. One restaurant in particular serves and unbeleivable whole snapper cooked in a banana leaf with ginger, lemongrass, pepper, butter and garlic and we had four whole fish over the two days.

We thought we had to get one overnight bus in Viet, just to justify alternate ways of travelling. Indicative of the trip so far we were the last hotel to be collected and somehoe shuffled to the back row. It wasnt looking to bad until we made another stop and the bus completely filled, including people sitting in the aisle. Me and sutts soon came to the conclusion that we actually had the worst seats on the bus in the back corner with absolutely no leg room and no space to recline. The one person worse off than the 194cm cauc, on a 10 hour overnight bus, in a seat with absolutely no room to move, is the poor bastard sitting next to him. So I was forced to sprawl out into ben's seat pushing him further into a tiny corner with the Vietnamese guy on my other side soon fast asleep all over me (i dont know how!). To make matters even worse, ben's flu was getting visibly and audibly worse and the air con was fixed permantly on full blast, freezing us up an absolute treat. All I can say is we pushed through the hours and did a good 15 albums on the ipod. The only thing I can remember being that uncomfortably painful is lying in agony with broken ribs while coughing up bronchitis and being kept awake by glandular earlier this year. Quite the experience........

Have just got into Nha Trang today but things aren't looking good, already overcast with few showers and not looking like getting any better I can see how good this place could be with good weather. On the basis of k-bangers experience I think we might soon have to cut our losses and chase some good weather further south......
