I can't imagine more of a contrast. I've swopped the hustle and bustle of happening Saigon for a laid back , low key beach resort. The perfect placeto relax for a couple of days. Theres not many people about , I think I have a hotel to myself .It's 95f in the shade so spent the first day on a sun lounger with a book.
Had a bit of a panic that night as I went to update blog and only had first page ; no list of entries and all cities etc were set at ' 0' ! Luckily the nice people at Realtravel wre quick to reassure me all is well ; just a blip in the system. Phew!

The next day I'm booked on an afternoon trip to see some local natural sights. So it was off in a jeep with a bunch of Germans to see the Fairy Stream ( I didn't see any other than me.) , White sand dunes , Red sand dunes , the fishing village and the Red Cannyon. All very nice but the best bit came when we stopped in some little place to eat at a roadside stall. I got grabbed by the arm and led into someones house where a circle of guys sat drinking . Obviously I was on my guard but I was given a tot of something and a whelk. I woke up with a sore head and no wallet... actually i made that last bit up. It goes to show that you have to go by your instincts and not everyone is trying to rip you off , although it can feel like it sometimes.

The locals seemed intrigued and puzzled why we were sitting on little stools eating with them on the side of the road instead of in a nice tourist diner . Difficult to explain that we were there as much for the experience as the food . Of course the fact that is a fraction of the price helps too.
Of to a somewhat chillier place next as I head for the hills.
