We arrived in Bariloche after a rather crueling 4 hour bus journey that only covered just over 200kms - approx 60kms were on gravel! Bariloche is beautifully located on the south shore of Lago Nahuei Huapi, at the foot of Cerro Otto.

We checked into hostel "1004" that had come highly recommended to us from fellow travellers.... (beds not that comfortable however and the website looks a lot more prmosing than the place is in reality) and yes the view from the 10th floor from the old office block is great.

With the weather not great and neither of us feeling that refreshed we decided to have an easy time here in Bariloche. We wandered around the Centro Civico and took in the attractions, ate Churros (deep fried dough), including spending some time along side Lake Nahuei Huapi. Bariloche is great for hiking and rafting, but with this weather we could not do much. We knew that we took a risk with the weather when heading down south, but we did appreciate the town (although we prefer San Martin). We bought our bus tickets to Mendoza, about 17 hours by bus up north as it looks like the weather will stay like this for a while and Mendoza has better temperatures and many bodegas!
