Tela, Honduras
From Round The World in 3 Months in Tela, Honduras on May 14 '07
We stopped in a seaside town called Tela, which according to Lonely Planet reports is a popular backpackers town with loads of fresh seafood. What we were greeted with was a very run-down, deserted town where the beaches were littered with tons of rubbish. There was not much to do there.. you couldn't really enjoy the beach and it was not very safe at all walking around. We did splurge on a nice-ish hotel though that had the most amazing views of the coastline. The seafood was indeed good, and although it was the most expensive meal we've enjoyed this far at US$20 each, we had 2 courses of seafood, drinks and desert. So Tela turned out to be quite an expensive stop, but good to re-charge.
