Took the Mirabeena ferry from Kettering to Bruny Island. Bruny actually includes two land masses (North and South Bruny "islands"), which are connected by an isthmus. (I was pleased to recall this word from 8th grade earth science before seeing it on the map.) The scenery was superb.

Highlights included seeing Great Bay at high tide and later low tide, climbing up many stairs to view the beaches on both sides of the isthmus, picnicing at Adventure Bay, visiting the tiny but fascinating Bligh Museum of Pacific Exploration, enjoying "Mabel's lookout," and gazing at the Southern Ocean from Cape Bruny lighthouse.
