Nurses Ball all the way

Okay I finally went up to the hill for a snowboarding session on Wednesday and before working on Thursday. It feels great to get back into it. The hill isn't massive, as it is more of a little park with a Bob Sleigh track and like a 2 story high half pipe that is still getting snow pumped into it, a few rails here and there and a couple of chair lifts. There wasn't a heap of snow but it was still way better than Oz this year. So at the moment I'm just practicing riding switch and I'm getting better too. Helmets are compulsory around the terrain park and no doubt I'll be hitting them sometime. Might even get a few private lessons with some instructors over the next week or so. But one thing is for sure, I'm going down that Bob Sleigh as soon as I get a chance and hopefully with my camera somehow.
Now onto work, I'm finally getting into the swing of work only did about 3 functions so far but the people I work with are pretty cool. Now there was something exciting to look forward to after work today as it was going to be my first club night in Calgary and it was a nurses ball. (My room mate James is working in the lounge at COP and one of his canadian work mates studies nursing and she was arranging a nurses ball at a club called COWBOYS so yep he conveniently grabbed 10 tickets.)
So I started work at 1pm and was hoping that it was going to be only an 8 hour shift so we can get on the last shuttle to go home and then head out to COWBOYS. But as 9pm came we were still working so we(Rob - another aussie working in Catering that also had a ticket to the nurses ball) asked Wayne about heading off as we needed to get to the nurses ball tonight and yep he let us finish up after a few things and we made it on the last shuttle.
Once we got home, I knocked on a few doors of people who I knew were going to COWBOYS that night as well and no answer, the bastards left me behind. So I quickly got changed and and went over to Rob's house and luckily his group hadn't gone yet so we called a Taxi but there were 6 of us. First the taxi didn't want to fit all of us in but after a little bit of negotiation we managed to slip 10 bucks in his pocket and off we went. Once we got to the place we had to present our IDs and one of the aussies couldn't get in and this was the part where we had to make the choice between being a mate and stay out with the poor dude or go in to the place full of nurses. The decision was almost instant the rest of us walked right in and left the poor aussie outside. Hey it was cold outside alright.
As I got into the place there were heaps of girls but there were also guys as well. I went to the cloak room to hang my jacket up then went straight to the bar and got myself a drink. I slowly found my crew as I weaved around the crowd and then drank and drank. The music was hip hop, RNB, everything really. Then country music came on and suddenly every single person on the dance floor was doing syncronised dancing like the Macarina but they were Lion Dancing to country music instead. I've never seen anything like it. We aussies quickly ran up to join in but we were clearly outcasted and nearly bowled everyone else over so thats when we decided to head back to the bar and get another round before atempting it agian. But I so wish I had my camera there with me. The night turned out to be pretty alright, the clubs here close really early like at 2pm. If we were in Melbourne, that's probably when I grab my 3rd drink only. But it's okay, everybody starts going to clubs at 8am over here. By the end of the night most of us were pretty plastered, some picked up and some didn't. Whereas I didn't have a mobile to put numbers in so I just gave mine out. :)
