Everyday on my way to school I stare at the snow covered mountains in the background. It is absolutely gorgeous! It is so incredible to see everyday. At the school that I am student teaching at, every Friday we go to the mountains to go skiing/snowboarding. I thought I would try snowboarding, why not. When we got there and actually stood at the bottom of the mountain, I have to admit, I was nervous. All I kept thinking was, 'I hope it is not that steep all the way down.' But I joined a snowboarding lesson with some of my students and off we went to a much smaller section to board. By the end of the day I had only face planted 2 times and fell on my butt a bunch more. It was great fun! On Saturday I woke up and my body was sore. My arms hurt the worse for some reason. My host dad asked if I wanted to go see the mountains so he took me sight seeing. we went through the mountains and also toured some of the little towns that still had ancient Roman architecture. It was incredible. One town still had and used an ampatheatre and another one had the look out towers for the city. it was awesome. And it was so great to have my personal tour guide! My weekend ended badly, there was a death at home. I couldn't believe a week into my time here and there was already something bad that happened back home. It was hard not being able to go home but there was nothing I could do. I made the week hard but I made it through. I started teaching, absolutely love it. From here on out the 9th grade are all mine. THey are so smart and a great group of students. They couldn't make my job any easier. Switzerland is great, my students are fabulous, and I am still smiling.
