Getting up early this morning was quite hard. We had to catch an 8:00 train from the Gare de Lyon station. The train was quite big and very comfortable. It was sort of like an airplane except it had different cars and half the seats went backwards. We were riding backwards, but you couldn't even tell. The train went very smoothly but very fast.

The countryside was very pretty. Rolling hills, green grass, and cute farmhouses. The hills soon gave way to mountains and we were riding through the Alps. Italy is pretty as well. We stopped in many small towns to pick up and drop off people.

The ride took most of the day so we didn't get to do much when we got to the city. We had to wait awhile in the train station to make reservations for our train ride tomorrow. The train station was very big and old. Italian seems like such a hard language to understand! Maybe it's just cause people talk fast. We got a cab to our hotel which is so nice, and then went looking around.

It turns out that most of the people are on holidays, so everything was closed. It was like a ghost city and took awhile to find a place to eat. We finally did then came back to the hotel since there was nothing to do. Our hotel is so nice! It has chandeliers in the rooms and flat screen TVs. We are only here for one night though. I took a nice long shower and now we are watching Finding Neverland. Tomorrow we get on a train to Florence.
