Malawi - Mzuzu
From Magical mystery tour in Mzuzu, Malawi on Jun 24 '06
After our prolonged stay on the Islands we had to hot foot it to Lilongwe but first we needed to crash in Mzuzu for 1 night to watch the England-Ecuador game. Mzuzu is a town we were pretty familiar with as we had spent half a day there previously traipsing the streets for sun cream before buying a bottle from a guy called Cheese on Toast.
We stayed at a backpackers called Mzoozoozoo which is best described as having rustic charm and regretfully set our alarm for 5:30am to catch a 6:30 bus to Lilongwe, capital of Malawi.

Never lucky with our transport, we arrived to discover that the bus service we had turned up for had been disbanded the previous week. So we got aboard the nearest rusting hunk of junk and waited for the bus to fill up. After three hours it was still only half full and going nowhere fast. We had still not recovered from our previous transport nightmare so we demanded our money back and headed to the nearest minibus, where we also waited for it to fill up. For 2 hours!
Transport has been so bad recently that we are actually starting to get a bit phobic about travelling, not good when you have 7 months left on the road!
