The hardest thing i have ever done. EVER. Ice climbing in the snowy mountains filled with glaceirs and giant gaps between parts of ice. Just like the movie TOUCHING THE VOID.
Cool
Think of the movie TOUCHING THE VOID
- Wearing the full ice climb equipment including the crampones... the boots with deadly metal teeth to grip the ice.
- having to climb the 80 degree steep ice and snow slopes with an ice axe
- having to jump across a giant 2 metre cracks of ice with blackness below
- deep blue beautiful icicles
- watching shooting stars at dawn
- falling down the slope for and endless 40metres and havibng to save myself by striking my ice axe into the snow again and again until i stopped
Not Cool
- forced to sleep at 6pm for one hour and to get up at midnight to trek thru the minus 20 degree weather and snow blizzard for 12 hours to reach the peak and back.
- major altitude sickness, stomach pains shortness of breath and fainting.
- looking up and to know how much left to reach the peak made me feel faint
all up the experience was amazing because you realise that the mind is stronger than the body. the true meaning of mind over matter. And i was rewarded with the beautiful scenery. A german guy and i were racing to the top moaning crying wheezing and screaming...
