Our weekend in Alexandria was a lot of fun -- the best part about it was the famous library and walking along the corniche.  Alexandria is famous for its fish though I won't bother writing a review of the restaurant we went to.  I wasn't too impressed.  Kedoura was much better (read my earlier review).  I went out of my way to take very touristy pictures just because.  I'm sure the ones under the sculptures make a bold statement.

Although we didn't make it to the lighthouse this trip, it's definitely a sight to see (so I've read).  It is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, and was built around 297 BC during the reign of Ptolemy, the first soter on Pharos Island.  It reached a height of 120 meters.  The first 14 floors had a square shape, the next 7 were octagonal, topped by a cylindrical tower capped with the statue of Poseidon, the god of the sea.

The library was of course, breathtaking and difficult to capture.  I only wish I had more time because there are some amazing exhibits and a rare manuscript collection.  Ma'alesh -- there's always next time.
