The Calm Before the Storm

As always Madrid was fantastic.  I arrived the morning of the 18th and after a mid afternoon nap, walked with Bill to pick up Liam and Oscar from school.  It was so great to spend some time in their day to day routine - swimming and gym classes, walking withthe to and from school, playing "bullfighter" and "mammoth hunter"  Both games basically involve the two of them hanging on me in one way or another.

BIlly and I had a great lunch with his former colleague Adriano.  We caught up over pulpo gallego (Galician Octopus), cuchinillo (roast suckling pig) and some great white wine.

Unfortunately, the weather precluded a lot of outdoors adventures, but we did enjoy an afternoon on the playground and a visit to the Palacio Real with Gloria on Saturday.

We capped things off with a farewell meal of veal T-bone and grilled asparagus with a wonderful bottle of red wine.
