Cheap fun

On Tuesday we (Adam, Lance, and I as well as Joel, a Swedish guy who is studying Japanese at Unitas--teaching Japanese is Unitas' main venture, teaching English is just a side thing) went to the Rink (pseudo-Canadian bar) after work for something to eat (I had a guava juice--nothing stronger!) and then went to Adam's house and watched a movie (Thank You For Smoking--I liked it and would recommend it, but it's not amazing).  It turned into a late night and I had to get up early for Japanese lessons Wednesday but it was cheap fun.

The first dream on my list has been dashed already.  I had planned to go to Hakone with Lance (a new teacher from Nebraska) this morning.  The problem was that the train we had to catch in order to be in Hakone in time for the parade, left at 6:14 am.  Our manager, Peter, was playing a piano concert at a little pub called Alone last night.  Lance and I headed down there after work and met up with several of the Japanese and foreign teachers there.  It was a good night (I enjoyed a gingerale).  We didn't end up leaving the bar until around ten to 1 or so.  By the time I got home and ready for bed it was after 1:00 and I had to get up at 5 to have enough time to get ready and get to Lance's house (he doesn't have an alarm clock) and then make it to the station in time to get our tickets and get on our way.  So I set my alarm for 5 am and went to sleep.  I woke up at around 7:30 am and all I thought was "SHIT" before I fell back asleep.  I'm not sure whether the alarm didn't go off or I just didn't hear it (I suspect it was the latter!)  I have been pretty rundown lately though.  I have had a cold for the last week or so and lost my voice for a few days too.  I have also been suffering from a few late nights (nothing exciting just not getting to bed at a reasonable time and getting up early every morning.)  So I guess my body didn't want to hear the alarm or something.

The first dream on my list has been dashed already.

After sleeping until around noon today, I am well refreshed.  I spent today just cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, renewing my library books, uploading songs, boring daily life kind of stuff.  But I am now planning on going to Matsumoto with Adam on Sunday so that this weekend isn't a total wash.  Matsumoto is much closer and cheaper anyway and it is another thing that I really wanted to do.  There is one part of the city that closes November 15 too so it is good timing (of course I have no idea what is located in that part of the city but I'm sure there is something worthwhile there or the website wouldn't mention that it is closed between November 15 and April 21, right?)

That's all for now...
