Day 30: Nice

From Diary of a five year old backpacker! in Nice, France on Jul 25 '06

Nice isn’t nice…….had to say that. It was packed with hot looking tourists probably cranky having to sit on rocks on the beach. Bathing tops are optional and in some cases, most necessary, the closer you got to the water (along those beautiful blue and white rock beaches) the less clothing!

We did have some fun at Galleries Lafayette which is like Myer, coincidentally with a sale on!! Billy loved the escalators and had to be coerced out of the toy shop. Yes we actually spent money here, although our Aussie dollar negates most sales. But we got bargains!!

An ice-cream by the ‘beach’ was nice with Kimmy getting a Strawberry Melba which looked delightful!

We spent a full day in Nice and most of it was shopping. This was a Kimmy day, however, the strip shops were dreadfully expensive. This is the shortest blog entry as there’s not much you can write about a shopping day, apart from we ended up buying bugger all and decided we really didn’t like Nice.

The afternoon ended in the pool as always. It was overcast and we headed down to the supermarket to buy a few bits and pieces and then to a restaurant for dinner. While we ate our pizza (best we’ve had since Melbourne – the French make far better pizza than the Italian) it started to rain. We had a little bit of rain in Tunisia, and this is the first time we’ve seen it since. We took a quick look at the beach near our hotel and again it was all rocks, apart from the shipped in sand that made up a couple of volleyball courts. That pretty well killed the day and we headed to bed for a well earned rest.
