Note on photos: Can´t save them in the right layout! The site will not accept my changes to the order of the photos either so...hopefully you have the mental capacity to see how the events flowed. The pics of the buildings are of the village in Tammisaari. They do not do justice to the actual beauty or character of the place! Anu and Vesa were nice enough to take the family and Tytti and I for a weekend trip to a cottage or "mökki" on the sea in the city of Tammisaari. Completely enjoyable. We played games and took sauna (really hot sauna too) and ate lots of good grub and enjoyed being outside. We were able to walk on the sea and was that ever somethin´ wonderful. There were no clouds in the sky, and the sun seemed very large and close. It was extremely bright outside because of the sun reflecting off the snow. The old, preserved village in Tammisaari pleased me exceedingly. I cannot explain the feeling of walking through those narrow allies that wove in between those big, old, wooden colorful homes. The allies were lined with street lanterns, those old-fashioned lamp posts, and each home had a fence and unique gate or entrance to their yard. And they all had old, quality things in the windows too. Like wooden sailboats or candles or some kind of a statue. And the curtains were lace or something soft and perfectly hung. Anyway, I could go on and on but it´s just something one needs to experience personally. I wonder if beneath the snow, the ground would have been cobblestone? I´m bettin´ on it. To give you a more visual picture of how it FELT...well, strolling through those allies I felt that I needed to be wearing one of those heavy, prim, and strangling dresses of the early 1900s and holding my elbow would be a proper gentleman with a top hat and cane. I´m looking forward to returning this summer on some free morning. I can take a train that will bring me right near the city. I´m gonna take some more pictures, find out if those streets are cobble-stone, and find a kind owner of one of those homes and see if I can´t take a look inside.
