On arriving in Washington, we visited the absolutely massive Arlington National Cemetary. This is the resting place for many thousands of personnel who have served America and its sheer scale was overwhelming.
After dinner we did an evening tour of the Washington monuments - all of which look very spectacular lit up (especially the Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington monuments).
The next day I got up early to go on a Whitehouse tour, but on turning up found out there was a 2 month waiting list - so had to falg that idea! Instead I went to the Holocaust museum for 3 hours. This was a very impressive and moving museum which has to be seen when in Washington.

In the afternoon I visited the Smithsonian Air & Space museum - the most visited museum in the US and it had a que to prove it! It was worth the wait to get inside however, with masses of excellent aircraft displays inside.
I also spent a day in DC on my way down from New York to Orlando on the 4th of December. During this time I went to the International Spy Museum -which I had heard was excellent but didnt get a chance to go to on my previous visit. I also went on a tour of the Capitol building (which is very impressive inside - especially up inside its massive dome) and took a quick visit to the Smithsonian National Zoo.
