At last, the beach!

Had a 10 hour overnight bus journey (the longest I've had so far) to get from Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido.  Didn't sleep much and arrived at about 7.30am feeling pretty tired.  Escondido is so humid compared to the places I've been so far and much hotter.  Dumped my bags at the hostel and went for a walk down the beach to Zicatela beach and watched some surfers.  Being on the beach is quite a nice change after the towns and cities.  Got some breakfast and as I was walking back I bumped into some people I'd met in Oaxaca.  Decided to go out for a few beers that evening.

Spent the rest of the day walking around town and chilling in the Mayflower Hostel, which is a decent place in the centre of the main street (El Adoquin).  Headed over to Cabo Blanco on Zicatela that night for a few drinks, it's supposed to be the best place to go on Monday nights and was packedbut everyone expects tips (which sadly wasn't forthcoming from me).  2 for 1 on drinks until midnight was pretty good (there goes my budget)!

As you can't swim on Zicatela I went to Carrizalillo, which is a small beach to the west of a town.  It's either a 20 peso taxi or 20 minute walk and, seeing as I'm on a budget, walking it is.  As the beach is pretty small it does seem crowded even if there aren't many people there.  Playa Manzanilla and Angelito are pretty much the same.  Seeing as some friends of mine were staying in Hostal Shalom, which is above Carrizalillo, I spent most of the time there.  Didn't want to move hostals as Mayflower is loads better.

Went out for a Danish girls birthday on Tuesday.  Had a decent meal and then went to Blue Station to get drunk.  2 for 1 on drinks again and a free drink to entice you in.  Most of the Mayflower was there as its about 10 metres from the hostel.

Wednesday - went to the beach.  Had a meal and said goodbye to my friends who were going back to Mexico City.

Thursday - went to the beach again, I now have quite a good tan.  Had a few beers with another friend before he left for Mexico and then got a bus at 6.30 to San Cristobal.
