The journey from UK back to Mexico seemed to take forever, but we were met by J's lovely German friend Pia at the airport. Conveniently she'd bought her boyfriend, Alejandro and even better his car so J's "I'll travel light this time with TWO suitcases" was not a problem.

Alejandro drove us back to Pia's flat which is in a really nice part of Mexico City, although her flat was quite cold- no heating and no hot water! Felt almost as cold as England but a nice cup of tea made by Pia's friend Corny soon sorted things out.

The next day we walked around Coyoacán which is the oldest part of Mexico City. It has lots of beautiful buildings along quiet tree-lined streets. We ended up in the Plaza Hidalgo where market stalls were being set up, but there wasn't that much to see as it was still early (11am!) We had breakfast and then took the metro to Templo Mayor right in the centre of Mexico City. Templo Mayor is the ruins of 7 temples that were built on top of each other (a new one every 52 years) during Aztec times. It was really interesting although quite hard to tell where each of the temples were and the girls got a bit snap happy taking photos of absolutely everything. We also went round the museum attched to the site but by that time I was tired and a bit grumpy (I never sleep well on planes) and really couldn't be bothered with 5 floors of bits of broken pottery etc.

Eventually we finished going round and went off to meet Alejandro who cooked us a nice meal in his flat. Then J, Corny and I went back to Pia's flat and went straight to bed.

Sunday morning J went off to buy our bus ticket back to Colima (I had a lie in) and then in the afternoon Pia, J and I went back to Plaza Hidalgo to go round the market. The girls got a bit carried away buying stupid amounts of jewellery and other things they didn't need, but I'm getting used to this sort of thing now... I just find the nearest place selling cerveza ;-p

Corny and Pia then helped J with her suitcases to Terminal Norte where we caught the bus home to Colima...
