So Ive been in Kampala for a few days and I guess I was waiting to feel like I'd gotten here before I began write about my experiences here but I dont think I've relaxed enough to settle in here. Although we are only a few hours east of Rwanda I feel like  I am a lifetime away. The most important thing I can say is that the people of Africa adhere to the borders created by the white colonizers years and years ago. To bring you up to date, in the 1800's europe got together and divided this continent up amongst themselves. Lines were drawn through villages, houses, tribes cultures and belief systems. there is a common belief that much of the problems of this continent can be traced back to this land grab.I believe this and I have experienced the ripples of these divisions myself. The problems of this continent are a little less defined than in Rwanda because the battle has been raging for over 50 years. Children are the main victims and there doesnt seem to be any desire to stop the violence. What I've heard from the the people of Uganda is a riddle with no awnser. What do we do? how can we help? We've asked and the only awnser is this political evaluation of the current heads of state around the world. What do you do when the culprit calls himself teh son of God? "We make theatre for therapy", someone here told me. "We let the people know their cries are heard by giving them a way to express their suffering". OK. And again I am stumped. Hopeful but stumped.

Crossing the border into Uganda was like losing your bread crumb trail. it was as if the people wanted us to get lost. No one helped us so we where forced to find our way. I guess the thought was "serves you right we've been doing that the whole time. Its about time you were forced to find your way with no light and no map". It was like being dropped off at college for the first time. Yeah... you know what I mean.  I guess I havent found my way here yet, but there's time - I dont leave until Friday.

" Serves you right..."

Peace,

Nataki
