Special Treat: Stromboli Explosions
After we left Messina, our cruise director had the captain take us off-course just a bit to Stromboli. Stromboli is a small island with an active volcano, and we sat off the coast for about 30 minutes to watch the red hot explosions against the night sky. We were close enough to hear the eruptions, and there were a few during the time we were there that were grand enough to make 3,000 passengers ohhh and ahhh and squeal with delight.
