Row row row your boat
From Around the world in 6 months... in Luang Prabang, Laos on Dec 06 '08
The journey over to Laos and Luang Prabang was probably the longest and most uncomfortable journey I will ever experience on my travels. We decided to get the 2 day SLOW boat down the Mekong. This involved in total 13 hours over 2 days on a cramped boat sitting on hard wooden benched...but overlooking some of the most amazing views. We managed to get through the 2 days by eating alot of food and appreciating the pretty sights.
Once in Luang Prabang we went straight to Spicy Thai Backpackers sister hostel Spicy Laos and it was just as homely. Luang Prabang was a really cute old French colonnial town that offered amazing baguettes and Laos bbq-which was the best thing ever. We did have to suffer 2 days without electricity though, which meant cold showers in the dark...
Our time in Luang Prabang was super chilled out and we got to take in a few sights including more Wats (temples). We did also go to a beautiful waterfall and thought it would be a good idea to jump into the freezing cold water off a tree...I think I lost all feeling in my body for the rest of the day.
