This was a VERY well needed stop on our travels!  After the madness that occurred in Pakse/Paksong, this slow paced islands was the most called for area.  Don Det was a very scenic, very beautiful island within a fairly large chain of islands just hugging the Cambodian boarder.  By far the cheapest accomodation yet, we stayed in absolute back-to-basic huts with a concrete floored shower and washroom.  The floor boards were big enough for the key to fit between, and the Mekong was not far beyond our room, but we weren't going to have another key incident.  20000 kip a night though (about $2.50US) so you can't really go wrong.  We were right on the water and caught some beautiful sunrises!  We spent our days here laying in hammocks, wandering about aimlessly, and saw a really interesting puppet show upon arrival.  The puppets were made of old items like rice baskets and clothes, and they did an amazing job, it was probably a high light here.  We had lots of fresh fruit shakes and some pretty good eats (Dahl and Vegetable curry soup were my highlights).  But all good things must come to an end, and we had to move onwards and upwards.  Now was the trouble of trying to find a bus to Vietnam around Tete...
