Takkaka Falls

Woke up to yet more rain fall and as a result our tents got drenched taking them down! We left Golden and heading towards Banff stopping off at Takkaka Falls (one of the highest falls in Canada) for a short walk and some photos. The drive up to the falls were interesting, especially if in a big bus. The swing-backs were quite severe... in some spots, the bus has to reverse up the section as it can't make the turn at the top, for the next swing-back. Luckily, Winston (our van) just about managed ;-)

Then it was on to hike Johnson's Caynon. Oh, I forgot to mention that the weather wasn't the best... in fact it was awful. Heavy rain and thunder storms were a constant companion for this three and a half hour hike! We decided to take an alternative trail through the woods which would bring us up to the ink pots. Parts were tough going for me and having made it to the ink pots I was so dissapointed... the rain jsut ruined the photo opps! Anyhow, it was downhill then all the way along the caynon and I've got to admit, it was beautiful (even in the rain!) Eventually, we arrived back at the visitor centre, soaked to the bone, but rewarded with some hot chocolate and/or coffee and a smile from a very dry Ben!

Onwards to Banff then, to set up camp and hopefully allow the tents to dry out (but yet again, it was raining!) Anyhow, we ate a tasty camp-cooked dinner and decided to go somewhere warm... namely the pub in downtown Banff. We drank to our hearts content and played some pool before returning to wet and cold tents. Was a cold one... we were well snuggled down into our sleeping bags that night!
