Our cruise did not leave much time for us in Cabo.  We were there from about 7am until 3pm, but since I like to sleep, my day started a little late.  I think my slight sunburn also had something to do with it.  Usually I would say a place like Cabo is ugly - not enough greenery, just beach and rock surrounding the city.  However, my first view of Cabo was from the deck of our room on the ship, and what a neat view!  There is nowhere for a cruise ship as large as the Carnival Pride to actually dock in Cabo, so we were moored offshore somewhat near the famous arches, halfway encircled by all that golden sand.  I actually think the view from the ship was better than any view you could get in town!  Our ship gave us a courtesy launch to the marina, where there were plenty of places to eat and shop.

The street vendors/hawkers were extremely aggressive in Cabo - people really don't like to take no as an answer, and will keep up the offers no matter what the answer.

"Some jewelry?" "No thanks" "Silver for you, lady?" "Nope" "Necklace?" "No!" And then by this point you are usually done passing the vendor, only to reach the next seller, who just happens to have the same level of persistence and the same amount of wares to dangle in your face.  The best were the whistle people, who just kept blowing their whistles in the hopes you too would love the sound, so much that you must buy your own!  Anyway, working our way through the gauntlet, we found a water taxi to take us to the stretch of beach we were interested in.  Water taxis are fun, but you will get wet when you hop out on the beach.  Once we found the right stretch of beach, we found our tour operator that we had arranged to go parasailing with.  They called in yet another water taxi, that took us out to the middle the bay, where we met and leaped into our final boat, the one that we actually went parasailing with.  Good thing we had nothing else planned, because we had to spend some time out there!  First we waited for two other people to finish their rides, then we got to go up on our own tandem 10-15 minute ride.  It was gorgeous.  Cabo from the air is a must.  I only regret that I didn't take my camera!  When I asked on the beach if I could take my camera, I got the usual flirty reply: "You can take a boyfriend".  When I asked again if I could take it, if it would get wet, I got the answer "if you fall into the ocean!" so I didn't feel safe enough to take it with.  Oh, how I wish I would have!  Next time, I will definitely have a cheap disposable one to capture the awesome views.  Parasailing was very fun and much more smooth than I was expecting.  Once we were reeled back onto the boat, we had to wait for two more riders (another half hour) before another water taxi came to get us to take us back to the beach.  Usually I wouldn't be so anxious, but we had left our friend to just sit there on the beach, holding all of our stuff!  Once we reunited we were going to try to walk back to the marina, but decided for our skin's sake to just get a water taxi.  Cabo, I will be back, and with more sunscreen next time!

We (mom, dad, 19 yr old daughter) are going to be on a cruise w/ Royal Caribbean this Dec ... thinking of parasailing in Cabo, sounds like you'd recommend it. What company did you parasail with? Would you book w/ them again? Did you book through the ship, or independently? I'm wondering if we should book parasailing ahead of time, or when we arrive ... what would you recommend? Did you do any snorkeling or other activities in Cabo, Mazatlan, or Puerto Vallarta that you'd recommend or advise against? We're planning on the Outdoor Adventure (boat, mule, ziplining, & rapelling) in PV, and Stone Island maybe horse back ride in Mazatlan. We are in Cabo from 10:30-6, Mazatlan 8-5:30, and PV from 8a-8p. Thanks for your help and advice.

Here is the link to the company we used: http://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Cabo-Parasailing.htm I would recommend them with the warning that they are a little slow - as I said, even though we were done with our parasailing, we had to wait an extra half hour for them to return us to the beach - makes you anxious when you have so little time at each port! I would recommend booking ahead so you don't have to rush around while you are there, although I'm sure if you wait until you get there you would be able to find something. Booking with the ship will be much more expensive but will give you the peace of mind of having them take care of it! Your other plans all sound great, I recommend booking fun adventures like that as opposed to just wandering around the port and getting annoyed by people trying to sell you things. =) And ziplining is so much fun!
