Last Saturday Dan and I took the bus to Cordoba for the day. Thankfully it was the one day out of the whole weekend where it did not rain. The morning was a bit crappy, but as the day went on the sun came out. We walked towards La Juderia district. On the way there we walked passed these ¨gardens.¨ The one thing I´ve learned about, atleast Southern Spain, is that gardens do not have grass and tend to look sparse. I´ve only seen grass one time in Granada and that was because I was on a bus leaving for Sevilla. But we passed like a test track for dirt biking which was sort of cool.

La Juderia was like a maze of streets with restaurants and touristy shops. Part of the old wall that separated it from the rest of the city was still up and it was cool seeing it. I went into the Mezquita which was cool but wasn´t worth €8 euros. We went to the Puente Romano, once during the day and then we waited for the sunset to see it because it´s supposed ot be really pretty. But since the weather was crappy, there really wasn´t a sunset, but the sky was a nice shade of blue.

On the way home, I could have sworn that the last bus left at 8.30pm. Well when we got to the bus station, the lady said that the last bus for Granada left at 7.30pm and the next one is at 7.30am. (Dan had to catch a flight out of Granada at 9.30am the next day). So we crossed the street and went to the train station and they said the same thing. I think they had limited service, because Saturday was a national holiday. We ended up taking the 8.00pm bus to Jáen, which my host brother informed me was 25 minutes outside of Granada. It´s definitely a bigger city than I thought. Because I know for a fact some parts of it are close to Granada, but the bus station is 1.5 hours from the Granada bus station. Once we arrived at the Jáen bus station, we literally just made the bus from Jáen to Granada, because we recognized the bus driver and there was a sign on the window saying to Granada. He wasn´t happy to sell us tickets for some reason, but as soon as we got on the bus he drove away. So like ten minutes later and we would have been stranded in Jáen for the night.

So that was my first genuine travel adventure in Spain and the rain definitely did not help. But I was so happy to make it back to the apartment, be able to shower, and crawl under my covers.
