We arrived into Dubrovnik 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon. The airport was interesting it looked like a tin shed and we caught a bus from the tarmac to the terminal. It was about 4pm by the time we made it to our hotel which was 6km north of the old town of Dubrovnik in Stikovica Bay. It was too late to really go into town so we swam in the warm waters of the pebbly beach across the road from our Villa.

Sunday we had to attend a meeting at 11.30 with our tour guide, it was a pain really because it took half the day. After the meeting we headed into the old town of Dubrovnik for a look round. We arrived at a really bad time it was the heat of the day and 5 huge cruise ships were in. Seeing as we’re not too fond of crowds we headed up to the western side and wandered for a while before heading to Café Buza for a cold drink. Café Buza is perched on the rocks outside the city walls with views out to sea.

After refreshing ourselves with a cold drink we began to check out some of the sights of the town. Our first stop was the Jesuit College and Church, St Ignatius. Then we went down to the Rectors Palace where we had lots of fun taking photos in and of the arch’s. Other favourite places of ours were the Dominican Monastery with the cloister garden and the city walls. They allow you to walk all the way around the city walls, which are over 2km long and offer great views of the city and the coast. After some great pizza for dinner we headed back to our Villa for the night.

The next day (Monday) we returned to complete the rest of Dubrovnik; we managed to arrive before the heat and the cruise ships which was good.

We really liked Dubrovnik, it seemed to us that Croatia let you access more of their historical sites than some other countries.
