They say if you come to Buenos Aires, you have to see a Boca Juniors game, one of the five local teams and the nearest stadium to the centre. And this was a Copa Liberatores game last night, their equivalent fo the Champions League.
But unless you already live here, you´ve never seen anything like it. It was less of a stadium, more of a concrete bowl in the middle of a neighbourhood. The chanting and the general inults start long before any players turn up. And when the teams did come out, the firework throwing begins.
It´s not just that they throw fireworks - it´s more the sheer amount

Its not even that they throw fireworks- it´s more the sheer amount. We were searched on the way in, but the hardcore fans at the other end must miss the first 15 minutes of every match between the smoke these things create and the e-nor-mous banners that read ´Hugador 12´(´The 12th man´) they unveil over an entire section of thousands of people
It was a game they needed to win 5-0 unless the other teams playing that night drew and then they needed 3. The other teams did just that, and so did Boca of course. It felt like a long and wasted journey for the other team, all the way from Venezula.

But we went home happy and tried that ´"we´d" got the right result after a night on the terraces.
