we are finally on the great ocean road, the first leg of the long trip to perth.
basically we have been driving and stopping and looking at the sea and driving and stopping and surfing (well trying to, i still can't stand up but alex boy was up for 10 seconds this morning!) and driving and camping. the twelve apostles were pretty scenic, especially at sunset just before the penguins came home. and the beach at the bay of martyrs was beautiful - just needed slightly bigger waves and slightly less seaweed. see lots of photos of roacks and sea and waves.

yesterday we ate some rally big cakes in a cafe called time and tide near port fairy. i had an enormous cinnamon and pecan scroll and alex, greedy boy that he is, had a giant chocolate brownie with double cream and ice cream and chocolate ganache. this was very exciting for us as we are feeling very poor at the moment so every bit of luxury counts. we amde up for it by failing to find a campsite and letting it get dark so we had to do some naughty camping at a picnic site. this meant we had to get up very early so we could look all innocent when the first day trippers arrived. so do excuse me if i ramble slightly, i am quite tired.

today it is raining so we don't really know what to do with ourselves. we have found a library with free internet though - hurrah, facebook here i come. we think we'll bypass the South Australia coast and head straighht to a warm, dry bed in adelaide.
photos to follow, have left the shutterbox in the car.
