Puebla - city of churches
From The Foys on Tour - Latin America in Puebla de los Angeles, Mexico on Apr 19 '08
After the hustle and bustle of Mexico City, we rose early to get on a bus to Puebla, a 2 hour bus ride to the north east. Between the sleep deprivation and the tequila we werenn´t the happiest bunch today! Puebla is a sleepy little town of 2 million people (!), and its world heritage listed, meaning no building can be over 4 stories. Its been damaged really badly by earthquakes over the years, and you can still see the effects in the many damaged buildings around town.
Puebla is famous for its ceramic pottery and many churches - its well known as the Mexican town which has most closely hung onto its conservative Spanish Catholic roots, though its also a University town.
Churches and hangovers - a powerful mix
The highlights of today for us were the walk around town, the Molê Chicken Ali had for dinner (literally chocolate chili chicken), and the after dark photo trek she made with Rebecca, one of our fellow travellers.
