(Oh yeah a few more observations. Apologies to the Uruguayan nation in advance but alas I must report that in my experience Uruguay was a playground for the Argies. I met some Uruguayans of course but their numbers were dwarfed by those of their neighbours. Indeed BA TV is full of nothing but Punta bikinis at that time of year. )

So I was after a bit of sun and surf and I got it in Punta Del Diablo. I must confess I prob only ended up here because the beach is on the lonely planets must see section for South America. The surf was wild and the coast line sandy and craggily interspersed with rocks as coastlines so often have a tendancy to be. The hostal I stayed in was El Diablo Tranquilo. Apologies to the spanish speakers if the spelling is off but i simply can´t be bothered to check. Anyway twas indeed tranquilo. Hamocks and long breakfasts made for a leisurely time interspersed with my own poor attempts at surfing. God I´m crap but its so hard not to love it.

So I was there five days and now with the benefit of a months distance much that was special has slipped from recollection. It was the breath before the dive for I had decided I was going to be volouteering in Peru and lord alone knew what that was going to entail.
