Using another one of Air Asia’s cheap flights we took a plane to Kuching the capital of Sarawak in Eastern Borneo. We hadn’t really done much research into Borneo when we arrived so we spent the next 2 days planning out our itinerary with the local tourist info office. There’s not an awful lot to do in Kuching town, but the paved waterfront makes for a fine stroll with views of Fort Margerita as does the small streets of Chinatown/India street. The Sarawak museum has a fascinating collection of cultural artifacts and exhibits on the local indigenous tribes, such as the Iban headhunters where you can walk through a recreated longhouse. The museum also had a huge collection of natural history with the huge variety of birds, mammals and fish of borneo.
