Third game, Cardinals vs. Phillies

St. Louis (or at least the parts we were in) is a very nice city.  My favorite part about all these cities in the midwest is the ridiculous lack of traffic.  Coming in to town, driving or walking around town, it feels like a ghost town.  Compared to San Francisco, or any where in the East Bay it seems like nobody lives here, or at least no one is driving on the road.

Anyway, we went and checked out the Arch before the game, very cool.  We took the tram up to the top which was a pretty terrifying experience.  It's basically this little pod that takes you up the side of the arch.  It clicks and clacks its way slowly up the Arch.  If you are claustrophobic I would not recommend this.  I had to duck my head down just to sit in the stupid thing.  The view from the top was pretty cool though, and worth the strange ride.  You can see for quite a ways, and there is an awesome view right into the ballpark from the top.

We then cruised over to the stadium and checked out the memorials they have to some of the Cardinal greats.  The stadium is really nice, there are a bunch of great little touches that were incorporated which really look cool.  The game itself was very strange.  Almost none of the Cardinals starters played, and they kept changing pitchers all the time.  Chris and I speculated that Tony La Russa was drinking again, but I doubt that was actually the case.  The game went into 14 innings, but Chris and I couldn't hang on that long.  After a long day of driving and walking around St Louis we only lasted until the 13th inning.

Our original seats were terrible (almost last row of the stadium), so after 3 innings we walked down to this bar area they call the party deck.  It's pretty cool because it's all open and you can stand and watch the game.  The view is pretty similar to a bleacher seat.  When the game went into extra's we made our way down and found a bleacher seat.  The biggest bummer of the game was the attendant in the bleachers, not a pleasant lady.  She kept hassling these kids who were cheering for the Card's, and actually kicked one guy out because she didn't like the way he was cheering.  We did not see him use any profanity, or do anything that warranted an ejection.  For a city & team that prides itself on it's fans, I thought it was a pretty weak move by the Cardinal's attendant.  I guess some people just don't know how to have fun.

Believe it or not, this is not a toilet, it's the pod up to the top of the arch, pretty janky

Well, I forgot the memory card reader for my camera in the car (I know, big surprise Gabe forgot something), so pictures will have to wait.  I'll get them up here as soon as I can.  We are off to Chicago today and going to the game at Wrigley tonight.  Should be a good time, and I can't wait to see Wrigley.
