As we approached Schwangau along the winding road we could see the Alpes in the distance and the temperature outside was dropping dramatically. When we went into a campsite the owner told us we would be far to cold in our tent so we headed into the lakeside town and found a cheap and available guest house. The warmth that came out of the room was a very welcome relief and our little attic room had a mini kitchen, our own bathroom and a huge big bed. From the window we could see the fairytail castle we had come to visit that was the basis for Walt Disneys Sleeping Beauty castle. We watched the rain continue to fall as we had a pizza in our room for tea and had a relaxing night reading before settling down to sleep. The next morning there was fog everywhere and the rain poured harder and harder. We drove up to the castle but there were hordes of tourists sopping wet and hundreds of umbrellas eveywhere so we decided to cut our losses and head back to Munich to visit a friend of ours, Christian.

sounds like you were very lucky that the campsite owner was nice otherwise you could have been up for a very uncomfortable night in the tent!
