Oktoberfest eve

Our day started with pretty crappy weather but that didn’t detract from the beautiful countryside and the massive windmills scattered everywhere. After a few confusing signs, we did end up on the correct freeway towards Munich (even if was slightly the long way round). We were drastically looked after from above once again when we slowed to go through some roadwork’s. Just as we did so, we heard a noise that was quickly getting louder- sounding like a wheel bearing was worn or of that effect. Though hoping to God Wikki hadn’t busted anything in her engine. We pulled over quick smart and after looking over absolutely everything under the bonnet, we checked the tyres/wheels. We were both lost for words as we found the front passenger wheel was seconds from falling off completely. Yes… that’s right…the same one that the man ‘fixed’ for us in Glasgow. Obviously!! We made it to a servo that happened to be right across the road (freaky as we hadn’t seen one for a good 60k’s) and Kev fixed us up properly. We truly thanked our angels above and set off on our way. Not a word was spoken for a while as I’m sure we were both going thru the ‘what ifs’ in our head. We arrived in Munich at about 3pm. You could feel the Oktoberfest fever as soon as you drove into the place. We went to the info centre to get some camping destinations. After getting lost (and the shits), we made it to a brilliant and popular camp site. It was as if we were back home as there were Aussie accents everywhere and everyone was in a cheery, festive mood. It was really beginning to hit us that we were actually there!! We set ourselves up along a fence overlooking a cute little pond and were parked about half way down a line of campervans. It was unbelievable how many people were doing the same as us- champions! We named stretch of road in the campsite ‘camper alley’ as there would’ve easily been 200 or more. After showers and dinner, we turned in for an early night- all pumped for the next day. Our long awaited first day at Oktoberfest
