Patrick and I spent the weekend in Stratford-Upon-Avon and we had such a nice time.  Stratford doesn't have a tonne to do, but if you like Shakespeare no other place will compare.  The city has actually made a tourist trade out of Stratford - there are statues, houses, theaters, monuments, everything relating to Shakespeare.  Their logic is that he was born there, but I wondered quietly to myself if he would have been pleased by the explosion of his life that occured on the town.  And surprisingly it was an explosion that took place in the late 1800's - in my naivety, I didn't realise that tourism was that big in the late 1800s.

We went and saw most of the touristy things.  We elected not to stop at his mothers home, or his grave, but we did see everything else.  We even managed time to take in a place by the Royal Shakespeare Company; MacBeth.  Although MacBeth had a Northern Irish accent which I found a bit distracting, the show was really well done; graphic, but really good.

A day and a half in Stratford was more than enough to see the sights and relax.
