Over the course of our four weeks pit stop in New Zealand a good chunk of it was spent, as expected, in Wellington. Karen and I had the difficult task of organising a social life around the fact that ideally we really wanted to limit our spending as much as possible, as taking our New Zealand dollars to England and swapping it for pounds was never going to be a pleasant experience.

There were people to see, lunches to be had, and best of all boozy dinners to fit in, all the while maintaining a healthy bank balance. Somehow though, we fumbled our way to departure with enough cash in tow, and a bunch of good memories to add to the bank.

While we didn't get to see everyone we would have liked (sorry if I missed you), we did try our best, and will of course be back some time in the future, we just don't know when!

We got to eat great food, from a whole range of ethnicities, something we longed for in Japan, and each time we went to a restaurant the priority was, of course, if it was BYO, again something Japan lacks and we missed.

All in all we had such a great time seeing everyone again, and while it is never long enough, it definitely went a long way to patching up some home sickness we had started to feel towards the end in Japan. We should now we dosed up just enough to get through a year or so in England thanks to restocking on the old; random chats, bar hoping, drink sharing and good old fashioned shit talking.
