Singapore 2006 & 2007
From Singapore in Singapore, Singapore on Dec 29 '06
The first thing I did on my arrival: call my father because is his birthday… damm every five seconds the phone takes out of my credit card 20c, wow!!! “…happy birthday dad, everything is fine but very expensive love you bye bye”
And then we head to find a hotel but as planed because we didn’t book in advance we really had to walk to fin a hostal with beds available (www.summertavern.com). And again each one had to pay 30 bucks for the creepiest hostal I’ve ever been to. The dorm has like 38 beds and of course because we were the very last ones our beds were just in the entrance.

After this adventure we decided to call Pedro and Alvaro and head to the River Side near Boat Quay to wonder around the bars and have a good western dinner…chicken winds in Hooters.
The next day we were supposed to meet Pedro and Alvaro in the centre of Chinatown (in front of the Hotel 81) around 9am but I made a little mistake and forgot to chance the time from Jakarta uppss, we arrive there and hour later, the were gone so we spend the day wondering around Singapore separate. We walked through Chinatown and have a great breakfast in one of the many restaurants in the street. The we decided instead of walking the area of Little India or The Orchid Rd (fancy restaurants) or even taking a trip to Sentosa Island (theme parks) we decided to go to the Changi Museum. Which basically is about how Singapore went from being an English colony to be a Japanese because of WWII in 1942 and then how the Japanese established the prison in order to try to implement their customs into the country. By 1945 everything went back to normal.
Fortunately we could find Pedro and Alvaro and we head to the Mariana Bay to watch the fire works and the beginning of the 2007. After this we went back to the river side and after a few bars we call the night. Nothing as spectacular as a New Year in Mexico, these guys finish much earlier jajaja around 3am a lot of the bars were partially empty.
With 14hrs ahead of Mexico we received the first ray of light and dedicate most of the mourning to call our friends and families. By the way we were almost kick out of a internet café because Ale was shouting through skype, jajjaaja good memories. Eventually someone asked me that where were we from and because of the shame that Ale was making me go through I decided to say “well I’m from Mexico but I think she is from Salvador” jajaja.
An so, with my new jersey of PUMAS that my friend Eddie sent me we head to do a Night Safari in the Singapore Zoo. It was a great experience, actually the zoo it self is quite different than the ones that I’ve seen. This zoo gives you the impression that the animals are actually on their natural environment, but at the same time it makes you feel safe. In the truck or off it, the heat was really suffocating.
