Saklikents a beautiful place. There’s a backdrop of vertical cliffs dropping off in plains with a river sneaking out through a crack in the rocks. Just a few hundred metres up through the crack and into the canyon ice blue water spurts out of cold springs. Just down from the springs there are several cafes perched out on dodgy little platforms over the rushing water. We wandered up the gorge for awhile, water had carved out the bottom and left the rocks really smooth. We were amazed at the amount of water bottles discarded by tourists and locals alike.

As soon as we arrived at Saklikent we geared up for tubing. They gave us silly water shoes to wear that were more like jellies, some even had slight heels. Jayne wasn’t too upset when one of hers went floating off down the river… The water was slightly colder than the waters of the Mediterranean we swam in the day before, but it was very cleansing and refreshing after salty water. Part way down the river we stopped for a mud fight which was great fun, getting clean again was just as much fun. We launched ourselves into a fast flowing part of the river and swam downstream, it worked well. That night we slept little platforms out over the river, it was nice and cool for a change
