Today w went to Stanley, a very nice and quiet area. We found it to be a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong's busy streets. The Stanley Market is a good place to shop and get all those last souvenirs you have been meaning to buy - as it was our second-to-last day today, we were glad to have a market with such choice to finish up our shopping. The market has more of the same items you can find anywhere in Hong Kong, but we also found some different types of jewelry, scarves, and clothes that we hadn't seen before. Another plus is the fact that the Stanley Market was not so crowded as other markets we have been to like, like the Temple Street Night Market, or the Ladies' Market.

We also visited Stanley's Maritime Museum, an excellent and very modern museum. It is small but can still take some time if you really investigate every display. I liked the interactive multimedia displays and all the models of different types of ships. I also liked the pirate section!
There are two temples in Stanley close to the market - the Tin Hau and the Kwun Yam. Both are interesting to see but I preferred the Kwun Yam, a temple that is more tucked away, up the hill. Tin Hau is practically next to the mall (though still worth the visit, it helps that they have signs in English for visitors) but Kwun Yam is up some stairs next to some nice trees, with lots of lovingly tended flowers. Kwun Yam also has a view of the surrounding area.
